He performed it for her and over 100 guests at the anniversary celebration at Troldhaugen, their home near Bergen, Norway. The piece was published as the no. 6 in vol. 8 of Grieg's Lyriske stykker, or Lyric pieces. It opens with the main theme, recalling a village wedding procession. There is a gently romantic section in the middle of the work, with the main theme returning at the end. The first and second flute parts switch to piccolo for a portion of the main theme.

This arrangement was commissioned by Dr. David Deifik, a member of the Nashua Flute Choir, for the wedding of his daughter Gabriele on June 22, 2008.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0764/6982/9679/files/grieg-e---wedding-day-at-troldhaugen_1.jpg?v=1791917833
